We have answered the most common questions about hyperbaric oxygen therapy – from what it actually is to how a session goes and what results to expect.
The Vitality Zone is our name for the hyperbaric chamber space at Erangelino. It is a calm, private environment where your session takes place. We have two chambers, each designed for one person.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is based on two physical laws. Henry\'s Law states that the amount of gas dissolved in a liquid is directly proportional to the pressure of that gas. Boyle\'s Law describes the relationship between pressure and volume of a gas.
In practice: inside the chamber you breathe nearly 100% pure oxygen at a pressure of 1.3 ATA. The increased pressure dissolves oxygen directly into the blood plasma, allowing it to reach areas it normally cannot – damaged tissues, joints, muscles and the brain – where it activates the body\'s natural healing processes.
Come to the centre in clean cotton clothing. On your first visit we will walk you through the whole process and answer your questions.
You lie down in the private hyperbaric chamber and put on the oxygen mask. The chamber is sealed and gradual pressurisation to 1.3 ATA begins – this takes approximately 8–10 minutes.
As the pressure rises you may feel slight fullness in your ears – the same sensation as during a plane take-off. Simply push your lower jaw forward, chew or yawn. The feeling disappears once the pressure stabilises at the therapeutic level.
You breathe pure oxygen through your nose and relax. You can read, listen to music or use your phone or tablet. Most clients fall asleep. Meanwhile the oxygen penetrates deep into tissues and activates regeneration.
At the end of the session the chamber depressurises gradually. Once the gauge reads 0.0 ATA you can exit. The full visit takes approximately 75 minutes.
It depends on what you are addressing. Many clients notice a difference – more energy, better sleep, clearer thinking – after the very first session. For lasting effects we recommend a minimum of 5 sessions. For chronic conditions or recovery, 10 or more sessions at regular intervals are advised.
Yes, HBOT is a very safe and pleasant method. No doctor is required on site – chambers up to 1.5 ATA are approved for wellness centres, sports clubs and home use.
The most common side effect is mild ear pressure during pressurisation (see step 03). Temporary tiredness after a session occasionally occurs – a natural response to increased oxygenation. Oxygen toxicity does not occur during a 60–120 minute session.

Yes. Each chamber has a safety valve you can operate from the inside. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, reduce the pressure and exit. Our staff is always nearby.
The session itself lasts 60 minutes. The full visit including welcome, preparation and decompression takes approximately 75 minutes.
The treatment is suitable for most clients. On your first visit we will briefly go through everything together and answer your questions. You can find a full list of contraindications above — if you have any doubts, feel free to contact us in advance.
